BT Storytellers: Behind the Scenes on the Gold Carpet
Before I post the photos of all the fantastic athletes and other personalities from the Gold Carpet at the BT Olympic Ball, I thought I’d give you a few behind the scenes shots to help to set the mood of the day. I’ve chosen photos that help to tell a bit of the story from the event.
In this first set, I’d like to introduce you to some of the people who helped to make the day so special:
Top right: Caroline and Jasmine, The ladies who were my contacts on the day. Among other things, they were there to help to make sure that the day went smoothly for us. They did a fab job and helped to make us feel a part of the event.
Bottom Left: Anthony, The BT events photographer who snapped away pics of Toma nd I throughout the night. He also went through the protocol of being a red carpet photographer with me, before the chaos began. It helped so much to have him there to give me a heads up, so that I didn’t feel so worried about the, “What happens next?”
Bottom Right: My fellow BT Storyteller, Tom Mallion (@twowheeldocs). His documentaries are entertaining and informative. I can’t wait to see his newest doc about the event. Check out his most recent work, a doc about Paralympic Dressage Champion Lee Pearson, MBE.
Sometimes you have to step back and check out the bigger picture, and that’s just what I’ve done here:
Top and Bottom: Before and After of the Photographer’s area of the Gold Carpet
Middle: Did you ever wonder how the magazines and newspapers get those event photos so quickly? No? Ok, it’s just me then. Within 5 minutes of the last arrival, the Pro photographers who get to do this for a living, were already on their laptops, sending their photos off to their agencies.
So that’s a bit of behind the scenes of the event. I think I might put together a list of Red Carpet Etiquette for Photographers. If you’re interested, drop me a line and keep an eye on the blog in the next week or so.
Next… The portraits of the athletes and celebrities who arrived on the Gold Carpet on the night.
